Hyundai E&C is joining forces with Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University to jointly develop an AI-based healthy housing model.

On Wednesday, the 16th, Hyundai E&C signed an MOU with Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul National University at Seoul National University Hospital in Jongno-gu to “Build an AI-Based Health-focused Residential Ecosystem and Create Health Value.” Key officials attending the signing ceremony included Hyundai E&C CEO Lee Han-woo, Seoul National University Hospital President Paik Nam-jong, and SNU Health Culture Initiative Head, Yoon Young-ho.

The three institutions outlined plans to develop personalized, AI-powered precision medicine services that analyze individual health status and risk factors by integrating health screening results with a wide range of lifestyle data, including sleep, exercise, and daily routines, collected from residential environments, thereby supporting improvements in health behaviors. The goal is to establish a new residential service model that goes beyond disease diagnosis and treatment to support everyday health management and the promotion of healthy life expectancy.

This agreement is particularly significant as it marks the first collaboration in Korea’s construction industry among a construction company, a university hospital, and a university to jointly develop an AI-based healthcare housing model, an industry-academia-healthcare partnership. By combining Hyundai E&C’s residential expertise, Seoul National University Hospital’s medical expertise, and Seoul National University’s research capabilities, the three institutions plan to jointly implement a next-generation healthcare model integrating health screenings, health behavior improvement, and healthy housing.

Key areas of collaboration include: ▲ developing a health-focused residential service model utilizing health screening and lifestyle data; ▲ building an AI-based health-focused residential platform integrating health screenings, health management, and precision medicine; ▲ developing comprehensive health management services covering sleep, exercise, nutrition, and mental health; and ▲ establishing and operating a demonstration complex for health-focused residential services.

Hyundai E&C plans to launch a demonstration project for health-focused residential services based on the results of this joint research and verify their effectiveness and practical applicability in real-world residential environments. The company also plans to develop the validated services into products that can be integrated into Hyundai E&C’s residential brands, thereby transforming living spaces into platforms for everyday health management.

A Hyundai E&C official stated, “This agreement marks the first step toward creating a preventive healthcare ecosystem that supports sustainable health management for residents by integrating health screenings, health behaviors, and healthy housing into a single system.” The official added, “By combining the smart housing technologies of the HMG Construction Technology Research Institute, the medical expertise of Seoul National University Hospital, and Seoul National University’s research capabilities in health behaviors, healthy life expectancy, and healthy community culture, we will introduce differentiated residential services that contribute to healthier lives and the extension of healthy life expectancy.”

The HMG Construction Technology Research Institute, the integrated R&D organization of Hyundai E&C and Hyundai Engineering, is leading the development of AI- and data-driven smart housing technologies and healthcare services while continuing to introduce future-ready residential solutions incorporating advanced technologies. In collaboration with SNU Hospital Gangnam Center and SNU’s SNU Health Culture Initiative, the institute plans to develop a range of initiatives that go beyond improving individual health management and residential environments to promote public health and expand the social value of healthy community culture.
